Software engineering is the systematic application of engineering principles to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software. The emphasis in software engineering is on the life-cycle of the software from conception through to production and maintenance. There is also a significant focus on the reliability of the software, particular in safety critical applications such as transport and medicine.
The BSc in Software Engineering is a three-year full-time accelerated programme that adds to the suite of programmes provided in Computer Science at
Maynooth University. It is designed to appeal to career-focused applicants.
1st and 2nd year combine Computer Science modules with existing modules in mathematics and electronics, provided by the Department of Electronic Engineering.
3rd year concentrates on programming and software engineering and includes a team project and a final year project.

International Entry Requirements:
Standard university matriculation requirements (Irish, English) plus O3/H7 Leaving Certificate Mathematics or equivalent.
A level: BBB, including a science subject (computing, economics, mathematics, physics or statistics); if you don't have any of these listed science subjects we then require a grade B in GCSE mathematics.
