Maynooth University Department of Psychology staff to attend the World Health Organisation’s "GREAT Summit", Geneva, 3-4 August 2017. Prof Mac MacLachlan and Dr Deirdre Desmond have been invited to attend the Summit; with Professor MacLachlan acting as Co-Facilitator for the meeting.

Success for MU students at Psychological Society of Ireland Student Congress 2017
The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) student congress was held at NUI Galway on April 7th and 8th of this year and MU was well represented in terms of quality research presentations.

PhD Studentship in Psychology 2017
The Department of Psychology is pleased to announce that a departmental PhD Studentship will be available for one student intending to commence PhD or PhD-track studies in September 2017. Full time research degree students commencing a programme of study in September 2017, and who have a relevant first class or 2.1 honours in their primary degree, or have a relevant Master’s degree, are eligible to apply for studentship support in the department. Students who have fees paid from external sources are generally not eligible to apply.

Maynooth Psychology Students at the NIBPS Conference 2017
The research of four final year students from Maynooth University was chosen for oral presentation and the group travelled with hopes of taking home some accolades from our UK counterparts. Selected for her highly commended work on the topic of ‘Self-Esteem, Self-Concept and Body Image in Adolescents with and without Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus’ Niamh Doody did the honours for the Department for Psychology.

Psychology SPHeRE scholar appointed to new government Disability Task Force
Padraic Fleming, a fourth year SPHeRE scholar based in the Mental Health and Social Research Unit (MHSRU), Maynooth University Department of Psychology, was recently appointed by the Minister of State for Disabilities, Finian McGrath, to the government’s new Task Force on Personalised Budgets.
