ALL (Assisting Living and Learning) Institute is a multi-disciplinary and collaborative centre for the development and promotion of Assistive Technology and Supports for people, especially those marginalised through disability or impairment, enabling them achieve well-being at all stages of their lives.

The fifth AfriNEAD Conference
The fifth AfriNEAD Conference was held August 7th-9th in Kumasi, Ghana at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The theme of this year’s conference was Disability and Inclusion in Africa; the role of Assistive Technology. From the Maynooth University Department of Psychology, Dr Fleur Boot (presenting) and Emma Smith, both working with Professor Mac MacLachlan, attended the three day conference. Presenters included experts in the field of disability in Africa and globally, as well as students representing the Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies, College of Health Sciences, at KNUST.

Maynooth Psychology staff play key role at Global Summit at the World Health Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland
Last month in Geneva the World Health Organisation (WHO) hosted the first GREAT (Global Research, Innovation & Education on Assistive Technology) Summit. Three staff from the Department of Psychology were among the 200 experts who attended: Professor Mac MacLachlan (Summit Co-Chair), Dr Deirdre Desmond, Senior Lecturer and Dr Fleur Boot, ASSISTID Marie Sklodowska-Curie Post-Doctoral Researcher.
