#FirstWeds Coping with COP Series
Dr Eilish Dillon moderated the December 2021 #FirstWeds conversation in partnership with Comhlámh. The final conversation for the Autumn series continued the exploration of COP26 and the climate crisis, featuring Community Activists discussing 'Where to Next?’. Eilish was joined by Theresa O’Donohue, Futureproof Clare; Seán McCabe, the TASC Climate Justice Centre; and V’cenza Cirefice, Slì Eile, The Galway Feminist Collective and the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network .

Dr Tom Campbell participates in Land Commons Virtual Conference
Dr Tom Campbell took part in a live panel discussion on the theme of Pastoralism and Rangeland Management at the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) - Land Commons Virtual Conference, held on the 13-17 September. Tom discussed some of the findings of his recently completed Doctoral research on Climate Change Policy Narratives and Pastoralism in the Horn of Africa.

Conversations on Freire - 28th October 2021
This year sees the centenary of the birth of Paulo Freire, one of the most significant educationalists of the past century. We in the Department of International Development wish to use the significance of this occasion as an opportunity to enable critical reflection on his influence in development and educational practice, both at home and globally. The event will include contributors from Ireland and internationally, drawn from the sectors of development practice, community development and higher education.

'Global Citizenship and Inequality 2021: Forging a New Path?' – Dr. Eilish Dillon participates in the recent IDEA conference.
Recently, Dr. Eilish Dillon from the Department of International Development participated in the excellent online conference organised by the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA). Entitled 'Global Citizenship and Inequality 2021: Forging a New Path?', the conference addressed the urgent issue of global inequality and the solidarity needed to ensure human rights for all. On a range of equality issues and challenges, the conference enabled deep reflection and discussion through a rich mix of perspectives and experiences from speakers and contributors from around the world and within different sectors in Ireland.

Dr Tom Campbell contributes to DSAI Summber School 2021
Dr Tom Campbell was delighted to have the opportunity to represent the Dept. of International Development and contribute as one of the speakers at the 2021 Development Studies Association of Ireland (DSAI) Summer School. Hosted by the Climate & Development Study Group in collaboration with Maynooth University on the 16/17 June, the focus of this year’s summer school was on: “Changing Climates: Challenges in Research and Development”.
