Quiet Zone 2022-2023

The Quiet Zone is for Continuing Students only. New Students have their own booking events and areas.

The Quiet Zone came about as a result of student feedback to the Residence Office. Many students want to live on Campus for their final year or as a continuing Post Graduate* (second year of course) and share with room mates who are in a similar situation. The ethos of The Quiet Zone is study focused, low alcohol, and low noise among like minded students. The Zone has been very successful over the last four  years and has grown from the initial 50 students to just over 100 students. The ethos is mainly student driven and student preserved. Only those student who want such a living environment should apply.

For Continuing Students and Continuing Postgraduate students and Continuing International Students: The Expression of Interest for Quiet Zone. (Form now CLOSED for Academic Year  2022-2023)

A waiting list for any vacancies in the Quiet Zone that may arise during the Academic Year 2022-2023 is now closed.  (Continuing Student/Continuing Postgraduate students/Continuing International Students)
This is an Expression of Interest and there is no guarantee of a room from submission of this form.

Where possible we have selected naturally quieter locations on the Campus for The Quiet Zone .  This includes Courtyard Halls in Birch (the tower) Alder, and Rye Hall Block B to give some diversification in room types.

Please be advised that all students who are offered a room in The Quiet Zone are expected to respect the ethos of the zone as set out in the Expression of Interest and Orientation form.

* New Post Graduates have their own booking event and area which is also usually quiet but is not strictly in "The Quiet Zone".
