Seminar with Prof Wendy Luttrell discussing ‘Children Framing Childhoods: Working-Class Kids’ Visions of Care’

Children framing childhoods: working-class kids’ visions of care
Thursday, February 8, 2024 - 16:30

The Dept of Adult & Community Education welcome Prof Wendy Luttrell and host her seminar about her research on ‘Children framing childhoods: working-class kids’ visions of care’

Conversation with Wendy about her book which offers an alternative angle of vision—animated by young people’s own photographs, videos, and perspectives over time. It shows how a racially, ethnically, and linguistically diverse community of young people capture & value the centrality of care in their lives, homes, and classrooms.

Wendy discusses why the book has special  resonance, given how COVID, and the racial inequities it surfaced, have forced a long-needed public reckoning about care inequality and injustice.
This seminar is organised by the Centre for Research in Adult Learning and Education, Department of Adult & Community Education and the Critical & Feminist Research Analysis Special Interest Group of the
Educational Studies Association of Ireland.
