The effect of this would be that schools, when oversubscribed, would no longer give priority to children of parents or grandparents who attended the school (up to 25% of available places).

New book by Dr Avril Brandon and Professor Gavin Dingwall has been published.
The book 'Minority Ethnic Prisoners and the Covid-19 Lockdown: Issues, Impacts and Implications' explores the impact of the lockdown on minority ethnic and foreign national prisoners, drawing on interviews with those working within the prison systems across Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Prof Michael Doherty has published a piece in the collection, Economically-dependent Workers as Part of a Decent Economy: International, European and Comparative Perspectives
The edited collection argues that while labour law focuses on employment contracts, and the legal analysis of the working world is based on the distinction between employees and self-employed, a significant number of European countries provide specific legal protection for so-called economically-dependent workers.

Dr Aisling McMahon’s work cited during Irish Seanad debate supporting TRIPS waiver proposal
The Seanad motion which passed unanimously calls on the Irish Government to support the TRIPS waiver. It also urges the Irish government to call on the European Commission to end its blockage of the TRIPS waiver proposal and to support a TRIPS waiver.
