Dr Marko Hočevar is a post-doctoral researcher and assistant professor of political science at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He defended his PhD Thesis with the title "The Capitalist State and the Crisis of Liberal Democracy" in September 2020. In 2021 he published his first book entitled Neoliberalism and theories of the state.
He is currently working on his postdoctoral project entitled The changing role of the state: state and employment policy in the context of the COVID-19 crisis (Z5-3221, financed by the Slovenian Research Agency), in which he is comparing the employment policies and changes of the role of the state in relation to the labour market in Slovenia, Ireland and Portugal.
