Maynooth University School of Business Programme Director for Marketing, Dr Christina O'Connor, alongside her co-author Professor Stephen Kelly, Head of School at Massey University, New Zealand have rung in 2017 with a new publication in the Journal of Knowledge Management.

The paper specifically examines the ability of Small to Medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to overcome barriers to big data use, to enable SMEs to engage with big data, and to impact positively on small business competitiveness.

Largely this journal and most research have focused on larger scale business use of knowledge management. Ultimately, this research is welcomed adding some further insight into the research of SMEs and knowledge management, highlighting the need for small businesses to have access to big data in order to strengthen their knowledge and their management of data in what has become a very competitive global market place.
