E-learning is broadly defined as 'learning facilitated and supported through the use of information and communications technology. It can cover a spectrum of activities, from the use of technology to support learning as part of a blended approach, to learning that is completely delivered on line'.(JISC)
Our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) - Moodle
The University virtual learning environment is Moodle. Moodle is an open source course management system, originally developed by Martin Dougiamas. It is used by thousands of educational institutions around the world to provide an institutional virtual learning space. Moodle is jointly managed by the Centre for Teaching and Learning and the Computer Centre. The Centre for Teaching and Learning is responsible for supporting all teachers and students in the use of the virtual learning environment and for leading the pedagogical development of Moodle.
Today, Moodle is an integral part of university learning with over 14,000 users. Moodle enables you to create and share learning resources with students, design and deliver online activities, discussions and assessments materials, deliver an online course, and support traditional face-to-face teaching with a range of communication, assessment and course management tools.
