COST Action 15221 We ReLaTe Overview
The common ground between support for writing, research, teaching and learning is the subject of European funded COST Action 15221, www.werelate.eu which is led by CTL staff member Dr. Alison Farrell.  We ReLaTe addresses the challenge of creating synergy among the increasingly more specialised and centralised supports for four key higher education activities – research, writing, teaching and learning – which frequently fail to capitalise on their shared territories and common ground.

As noted on their own website, COST is EU funding which facilitates 'European researchers, engineers and scholars to jointly develop their own ideas and new initiatives across all fields of science and technology through trans-European networking of nationally funded research activities'.  As the Principal Investigator of the project Alison is leading a project made up of representatives from 33 COST countries and 5 Near Neighbour Countries.  We ReLaTe is the first COST Action to be led by a Maynooth University colleague.

Practically, involvement in the Action provides opportunities for colleagues across Maynooth University, and beyond, to avail of opportunities to engage in funded short-term research projects (called ‘short term scientific missions – STSMs’) and to apply to attend training schools across partner European institutions.  The Action itself also contributes to the research informed nature of the CTL work.

The Action, which began in October 2016 and ended in October 2020, had approximately €650,000 associated with it.  More information about the Action, including reports and latest information about the project, is available at the dedicated project website www.werelate.eu
