Entrance Scholarship
For those awarded the Entrance Scholarship in 2019:
The €1,000 Entrance Scholarship is automatically awarded to incoming first year students, via the CAO, who have obtained 550 points or more in the Leaving Certificate (from six subjects in one sitting). For any first year Maynooth student who achieves 550 points or more following Leaving Cert subject rechecks, we are happy to reward their new score.
For students presenting GCE A Levels, the awards are based on achieving points from three/four subjects in GCE A levels. The 2019 scholarship does not include preferetial option for campus accommodation. For anyone seeking information on accommodation in Maynooth, please visit the Accommodation Office website.
The Ernest Walton STEM Bursary is available for at least 8 students from DEIS schools. Each candidate must submit a completed application form and attach evidence from the CAO that they have applied for a STEM course as their first choice

The Professor William C Campbell Bursary Scheme is available to a student from a DEIS school based on Leaving Certificate examination results who intends to complete a third level course in the Medicine, Zoology, Physiology or Bio-Medical Science fields. If you are taking the Equine Business degree programme you may be eligible for one of the Michael Osborne Equine Business Scholarships. These scholarships are automatically awarded and honour the memory of Michael Osborne, and his immense contribution to the Irish and international horse-racing industry. We sponsor these scholarships jointly with Horse Racing Ireland. The scholarship lasts for the duration of your undergraduate studies (three years) as long as you are a full-time registered student and progress successfully at the end of each academic year.

Entrance Scholarship for MH103 Bachelor of Music
The Entrance Scholarship for one entrant to MH103 Music is awarded in September. The top scoring applicant, based on the MH103 written test, interview and audition, is offered the scholarship of €1,000. The successful applicant will be informed when they receive their offer for MH103 through the CAO.
The Head of the Maynooth University Music Department awards one undergraduate music scholar each year. This scholarship is for current Music students and is based on their year end results. At present no scholarship is available from the Music Department for prospective Music students. For details apply to the Professor of Music.
Through the 'Intel Women in Technology' scholarship program for females who have just embarked on third level education, Intel hopes to increase awareness and encourage a new generation of high-achieving women to take up the challenge of a career in science and technology.

Scholarships are open to female school leavers entering specified undergraduate honors degree courses in science, technology, and engineering (full selection criteria is included below) and up to €3000 for each student per annum. Maynooth University is one of the applicable universities.

Scholars will complete intern placements or summer internships at an Intel campus. (The scholarship program is supported by Intel in Leixlip, Shannon, and Cork and successful scholars are linked to an Intel campus based on their course selection and geographical location).

To assist with career progression and further education, each scholar will be assigned an Intel mentor who can assist and provide advice on managing their academic career.

Women Techmakers Scholars will each receive a 7,000 EUR award (or local equivalent) for the 2018-2019 academic year. A group of female undergraduate and graduate students will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate's academic background and demonstrated leadership. All scholarship recipients will be invited to attend the annual Women Techmakers Scholars' Retreat to connect with fellow scholars, network with Googlers and participate in a number of workshops.
As a Women Techmakers Scholar, you will join a long-term community of scholars program participants designed to provide a forum to share resources, support other women in tech, and collaborate on projects to make continued impact. The Naughton Scholarships are a scheme of scholarships to promote the study of engineering, science and technology at third level by students in Ireland. Each year from February to May Leaving Certificate students can apply for a scholarship if they intend on studying science, engineering or technology at third level that year.
The Scholarships are particularly intended for students applying to study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related subjects rather then the more practical sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Veterinary, Physiotherapy etc). All applications are reviewed in August each year and the winners of scholarships are notified in September.
Significant importance and preference will be given to those candidates who achieve the highest combined results in the Leaving Certificate in the Applicable Subjects (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Physics and Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Agricultural Science, Technology and Design and Communication Graphics).
However, the Selection Panel will also review and evaluate the merits and eligibility of candidates using several other criteria, including:

the interest, ability and potential of the candidate to study their chosen field;

the existence and severity of any disadvantages or barriers which may prevent or impede the candidate from their chosen field;
-
the candidate's motivation, commitment and disposition to benefit from third-level education and to complete the course of study successfully; and
-
the candidate's personal statements will bear on their likelihood of success.

The MU Undergraduate Scholarship for Students with Disabilities, which is for studies leading to an undergraduate degree, is valued at a maximum of €2,000 for the academic year. The scholarship is open to entrant undergraduate students with a significant disability who are experiencing financial difficulties. Subject to satisfactory progress it may be renewed for a further two years.
Criteria for the Maynooth University Disability Scholarship

Applicants must be students registering for the first year of a primary degree course in Maynooth University.

Students will be considered for a scholarship where their needs assessment has identified that a significant level of support is required to assist with participation and retention in college. A significant level of support includes eligibility for a Personal Assistant (PA), Irish Sign Language (ISL) Interpretation, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP), Student Central referral, transport, campus accommodation and/or flexibility on attendance due to impact of a disability.

Students must be also be in financial hardship to be eligible for the Disability Scholarship. The adjudication on financial hardship will be determined by the Student Budgeting Advisor. Only students who meet the criteria for a scholarship due to the impact of a disability will be referred to the Student Budgeting Advisor.

Applicants who have already secured funding from other scholarship funds will not be considered for the Maynooth University Disability Scholarship.

Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available scholarships, the needs assessments will be reviewed by the Disability Office to prioritise those applicants where the impact is most significant.

The NUI Award Scheme has provided support for undergraduate students who have serious physical disabilities and who propose to pursue primary degree programmes (i.e. Honours Bachelor Degree programme) in an NUI constituent university, recognised college or college linked with a constituent university. To be eligible to apply for a bursary award, candidates must be new entrant undergraduate students.

The Gerard Byrne Bursary consists of two annual grants for two undergraduate students with confirmed visual impairment or blindness, studying on a full-time basis at a recognised educational institution in the Republic of Ireland. Maynooth University is an eligible institution recognised by this bursary.
The value of each scholarship is set at €1,500 per year (maximum €6,000 across the duration of a recognised undergraduate certificate, diploma, or degree programme) and continues for the duration of the undergraduate programme chosen by the Bursary winner, to a maximum of four years.
NCBI may also offer a 6-month internship to one Bursary award winner per year, if appropriate to their area of study.

Link Credit Union operates a Student Scholarship Scheme for members attending or commencing a full-time Third Level course that awards twenty 3rd Level Scholarships of €750 via a draw at the AGM that is not based on academic achievement.
An extra draw takes place for a chance to win an additional 6 scholarships. Any student or parent on behalf of a student who took a credit union Educational Loan will be eligible to enter.
The following criteria applies:

The SVP Education and Training Bursary Fund has been established to support students of all ages who may financially struggle to access or stay in third level education and training programmes. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul recognises the importance of further education, however, for many people accessibility and affordability are real barriers to obtaining a third level education and training. The SVP Education and Training Bursary Fund has been established to support students of all ages who may financially struggle to access or stay in third level education and training programmes.
The Bursary Programme will consider all recognised third level education and training programmes for funding. However,postgraduate studies (Master or PhD) or private colleges are not eligible.

The Denham Fellowship, named after The Hon. Mrs. Justice Susan Denham, Chief Justice, assists two aspiring barristers annually who come from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to gain access to professional legal education at the King’s Inns and professional practice at the Law Library.
The Fellowship, which is being run by The Bar of Ireland in association with The Honorable Society of King’s Inns, endeavours to encourage more diversity in the legal profession. Denham Fellows will be provided with financial, educational and professional support from point of entry to the Barrister-at-Law degree programme at the King’s Inns all the way through their first four years of practice at the Law Library culminating in a five year programme and ultimately in what is hopefully going to be a successful and rewarding career at the Bar.
The significant supports to be provided include:
· Remission of fees to the Barrister-at-Law Degree Programme at the Kings Inns, including the Entrance Examination Fee and repeat assessments;
· Waived Law Library Fees for the first four years of practice at The Bar of Ireland, including the Entrance Fee;
· An annual stipend of €6,000 for a period of minimum 5 years (6 years for part-time students on a pro-rata basis), commencing at the start of the Barrister-at-Law degree programme, to go towards accommodation and living expenses;
· Three mentors to be assigned to each Denham Fellow for the duration of the Fellowship; one from the judiciary; one senior member of The Bar of Ireland; one junior member of The Bar of Ireland;
· Support in locating a Master for each year of devilling.

UVERSITY
HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ADULT LEARNERS are intended to remove financial barriers so that adult learners can unlock their potential and realise their ambitions.
Uversity’s scholarships provide multi-annual financial support for recipients to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree for the first time in participating third level institutions in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Scholarships can be any subject area and will be tailored to recipients’ financial circumstances to cover some or all of the direct and indirect costs associated with higher education.
Successful candidates must:

be a citizen of an EEA member state or Switzerland AND resident in Ireland or Northern Ireland for 3 years or more by 1 January
