Professor Doherty Contributes to Interim Report on the European Public Procurement Directive

Professor Michael Doherty has contributed to a new, cross-national interim report on a project entitled ‘The implementation and application of the European Public Procurement Directive’, which is carried out with the financial support of the European Commission.

Professor Doherty has worked on a number of projects for the European Commission as part of European-wide research networks and as co-investigator on a major, EU-funded project on public procurement (the Winning in Tendering project). His recent work has focused on the impact of the economic and social crisis on employment rights in the EU, including the opportunities offered by public procurement processes to reconcile tensions between economic freedoms and social rights. He is also currently supervising a PhD student working on public procurement and social considerations.​

Professor Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law where he lectures in modules on Employment Law and Work and Employment in Europe on the LLB programme.
