Prof Doherty Attending Workshop on 'Procurement and Precarity' at University of Cambridge

Monday, May 11, 2015 - 09:45

Professor Michael Doherty is attending the workshop on 'Procurement and Precarity' on Wednesday 13 May 2015 in Trinity College, University of Cambridge.

The overall aim of the workshop is to explore the ways in which public procurement (how public services are commissioned) can be used to secure social objectives (such as the recruitment of staff from disadvantaged backgrounds and securing or raising employment rights, through e.g. the payment of a living wage). Further information about the workshop is available online.

Professor Doherty is head of Maynooth University Department of Law, which currently offers the only University Level 9 qualification in public procurement law. The Postgraduate Diploma in Public Procurement Law will afford its graduates a thorough knowledge of public procurement laws, the tendering process, and the judicial review process. The course will be presented by top barristers and partners of large law firms who are practising in this area, as well as by leading academics in the field.

The Department of Law also offers a module in Public Procurement Law on the LLM (Global Legal Studies) and the LLM (International Business Law) masters programmes.
