Ms Justice Mary Laffoy, Judge of the Supreme Court and Honorary Adjunct Professor of Law at Maynooth University Department of Law, has been made Patron of the Employment Law Association of Ireland (ELAI).

The honorary role was bestowed on Judge Laffoy at the Association's Annual Dinner on 24 July 2014, at which Gerard Clarke QC of Blackstone Chambers spoke on Protecting Databases and Confidential Information and Restrictive Covenants.

Professor Michael Doherty, Head of Maynooth University Department of Law, is a member of the ELAI Committee and attended the dinner at which employment law practitioners (including Honorary Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Law, Esther Lynch of ICTU) and academics gathered to honour Ms Justice Laffoy's remarkable achievements on the bench and, particularly, in the employment law sphere.
