Is it worthwhile to invest in Mass Customisation Capability?

Wednesday, January 30, 2019 - 14:15

Dr Ali Nazarpour and Prof Joseph Coughlan of Maynooth University School of Business have been leading a study to develop and test an integrated model of how investments in manufacturing practices affect mass customisation capability and operational performance, using data collected from 14 countries. In collaboration with other leading Business Schools such as ESADE (Ramon Llull University, Barcelona) and UCD Smurfit School they provide evidence of the role of mass customisation capability in generating both cost and flexibility performance. Through identifying and testing contingency factors that have an impact on the capability–performance relationship, they contribute to both the academic and practitioner community with potentially compelling answers to the question of why developing capabilities are not always successful.

To date, the results of this project were presented in two prestigious international conferences:
Is Mass Customisation Suitable for Every Industry?
