Students at the Kilkenny Campus of Maynooth University held a soccer match between Maynooth Campus students and Kilkenny Campus Students to highlight the plight of Syrians who have little choice but to remain in Aleppo despite the continued airstrikes. Since Russia stepped into the conflict, Aleppo and large parts of northern Syria have come under heavy bombardment. The remaining residents have limited access to medical facilities, food and safe places to shelter. The match at the Kilkenny campus was held to mark Social Justice Week 2016.
