From Sept 1st 2013 Prof. Mary P. Corcoran will become Head of the Department of Sociology.
She said "It is a great privilege to take on the role of Head of the Department of Sociology. Just last year the Department celebrated its 75th anniversary- the oldest sociology department on the island of Ireland. We are extremely proud of our discipline's contribution to the University and to wider society. We hope to build on our core strengths in the years ahead."
Prof. Corcoran is a graduate of Columbia University, New York and Trinity College Dublin. She has previously worked at New York University and University College Dublin before moving to Maynooth University in 1990.
