Our next TechSoc Meetup is taking place on Tuesday 27th April at 1pm.
This will be another opportunity to network, meet new MU colleagues, and learn about the new internal MU research schemes.
On Tuesday we will hear from two new colleagues, Professor Rozenn Dahyot (Computer Science) and Dr Ciara Bracken-Roche (Law/Criminology).
Dr Ciara Bracken-Roche will be speaking about her work related to the uptake of surveillance technologies by policing and public safety agencies. Trends through her recent work speak to technological acceleration and solutionism.
Professor Rozenn Dahyot will speak about AI, some of its applications developed in her team, and some of its current shortcomings including its challenges for society.
Dr Elaine McCarthy from the Research Development Office will also join us to provide an update on the university’s internal research schemes.
