Undergraduate Research Symposium 2017 Faculty Poster Winners

We are delighted to announce the winners of the SPUR 2017 Poster Symposium who were presented with their prizes by Professor Philip Nolan during Research Week 2017.
 
The details of the winners are –
 

  • Aisling Kennedy in the Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy. This winner represents an interdisciplinary project between Media Studies and Sociology. Under the mentorship of Professor Mary Corcoran, Dr Pauline Cullen and Dr Anne O’Brien, Aisling Kennedy’s poster showcased her research into developing an Irish code of practice in the Media Reporting of Gender Violence.
  • Aishling Reilly and Ailbhe Garry in the Faculty of Social Sciences. This winner is a joint departmental project representing Mathematics and Statistics and Education. Aishling Reilly and Ailbhe Garry’s poster highlighted their research into designing creative reasoning tasks for Junior Certificate Mathematics and Science, under the mentorship of Dr Majella Dempsey and Dr Ann O’Shea.
  • David Flood in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. This is a chemistry department winner, mentored by Dr Robert Elms. David Flood’s poster showcased his research into the relevant tools available for the early detection of tumours.
