Professors Aphra Kerr and John O’Brennan of the Department of Sociology at Maynooth University are collaborating with Dr. Paul Kitchin of Ulster University on the YouGaMSI project: Fair Play? Assessing the exposure of young people to gambling marketing through sport on the island of Ireland. This project will be the first of its kind on the island of Ireland.

Research by Maynooth Labour Economists finds that Irish mothers with a university degree experience a 27 percent earnings penalty following childbirth.

New research by Dr. Aedin Doris, Prof. Donal O'Neill and Dr. Olive Sweetman from the Department of Economics Maynooth University, explores the timing and determinants of the gender wage gap for university educated employees in Ireland. They find that although male and female graduates have similar returns to study field immediately after graduation, a substantial gap soon emerges. This is particularly true when considering women with children and is driven by a 27 percent fall in earnings immediately after childbirth.
