Research Win on the SFI/Irish Aid Sustainable Development Goal Challenge

The School of Business’ Dr Nicola Mountford, Co-PI with Prof Sean Doyle (Biology - lead PI), and Dr Peter Waiswa in Makerere University, Uganda has won the first Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Challenge focused on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, with a new approach to identifying sepsis in newborn babies. The multidisciplinary team was supported by the Irish Neonatal Health Alliance as its societal impact champion. This provides €1m for stage 3 of their neonatal sepsis research programme in conjunction with Accuplex Diagnostics.
