Dr. Marian Crowley-Henry has published an article in the international peer-reviewed International Journal of Intercultural Relations together with three Australian colleagues, Dr. Asanka Gunasekara (Swinburne University of Technology), Prof. Santina Bertone (Central Queensland University) and Dr. Shamika Almeida (University of Wollongong).
The paper entitled: ‘Dancing to two tunes: The role of bicultural identity and strong ties in skilled migrants’ value-driven protean careers’ shows how a sample of skilled migrants use their bicultural identity and strong familial ties to advance their value-driven careers in the host country.
Contrary to studies that showed weak ties to play a key role in career progression, this research found that for non-Western skilled migrants in their research sample, it was their strong familial ties that supported and enhanced their career success. The full paper can be accessed on this link for free up until 8th March 2021 https://authors.elsevier.com/c/1cQhmXTj08W24
