Professor Aisling McMahon recently delivered a paper at the International Australasian Association of Bioethics and Health Law (AABHL) conference which was held at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane from 19th to 22nd November, 2023. AABHL is an interdisciplinary leading global bioethics and health law conference.
Professor McMahon’s paper entitled “Bioethical issues posed by patents – and how they are used – over ‘technologies’ related to the human body: An Urgent Need for Scrutiny” examined the bioethical issues posed by patents and how these rights can be used over emerging technologies related to the human body.
Professor McMahon is a Professor of Law, School of Law and Criminology, Maynooth University whose research specialises in health and intellectual property law. She is the Principal Investigator of the PatentsInHumans project.
