PhD Candidate Presents at Hospital Pharmacists Association of Ireland Procurement Event

On 28 May 2015, Emma McEvoy, a PhD student at Maynooth University Department of Law, recently spoke at the Hospital Pharmacists Association of Ireland procurement event, ‘Procurement of Pharmaceutical – What You Need to Know Event’, which was  attended by 40 pharmacists based in Irish hospitals.

The Hospital Pharmacists Association of Ireland (HPAI) is a voluntary organisation that represents its members on issues relevant to hospital pharmacists. The association exists to further the development of hospital pharmacy practices and to assist in the provision of continuing pharmaceutical education.

Speakers on the day included, Ms. Deirdre Lynch, President of the HPAI; Mr. Kevan Wind, Regional Procurement Specialist Pharmacist, South East England; and Ms. Jennifer Brown, Chief 1 Pharmacist, Operations Manager, Mater University Hospital.

Emma was asked to provide an overview of Irish Public Procurement legislation and to facilitate a lunch time workshop on tendering techniques.
 
As well as completing her PhD, Emma lectures in Public Procurement Law on the LLM (Global Legal Studies) and LLM (International Business Law) programmes. She is also the Course Director for the Department of Law’s Postgraduate Diploma in Public Procurement Law.
