The IRC’s Government of Ireland scheme supports top early-career researchers who are based in Ireland’s higher education and research institutions. One of the successful awardees this year is PhD candidate at the School of Law and Criminology, Victoria Oluwatobi Isa Daniel.

Victoria's PhD research title is ‘Early Legal Advice and Assistance for International Protection Applicants in Ireland’.
While the Irish direct provision and international protection determination systems have been the subject of sustained critique due to serious human rights deficiencies, Victorias research examines whether, and to what extent early legal advice and assistance should be provided to international protection applicants in Ireland.

“I am delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious scholarship to complete my PhD research, special thanks to my supervisors Cliodhna Murphy & Brid Ni Ghrainne and the Law Department for their continued support and guidance.” - Victorua Oluwatobi Isa Daniel.

The School of Law and Criminology warmly congratulates Victoria on her award and wishes her every success for her research.
