Dr. Mariana Velasco-Rivera attends the Comparative Public Law Roundtable organized by the Centre for Comparative and Public Law

Last April, Dr. Mariana Velasco-Rivera was invited to attend the Comparative Public Law Roundtable organized by the Centre for Comparative and Public Law at the University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Law.

Dr. Velasco-Rivera presented a paper entitled "'New Constitutionalism' Undone: The Judicial Overhaul in Mexico 2024" and was honoured to receive comments by Hon. Manuel Cepeda Espinosa, former Justice of the Colombian Constitutional Court.

Mariana’s research interests are in the field of public law, specifically, constitutional law, comparative constitutional law and constitutional theory. In her research, she explores the relationship between constitutionalism, constitutional design and democracy and how political norms and practices shape legal institutions.
