Dr Edana Richardson presented a paper entitled “Responsible Finance Sukuk: A Review” at the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) 30th Annual Conference, held at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. Dr Richardson’s paper discussed the developing sector of sukuk (Islamic capital markets instruments that are similar to a bond) that are consciously structured to consider not just financial returns, but wider societal impact. This paper was presented within the “Socio-Economic Justice, Equality, SDGs and the Constituting of Participatory Society: The Islamic Moral Economy & Finance Project” stream.
