Congratulations to Francesca Farina, who was recently awarded the 34th Annual Whittaker Award. This is the second time that a psychology student won this prestigious award.
The award was presented by the Maynooth University Biological Society for her presentation entitled "Your Brain the Detective: How the Brain Makes Sense of the World around Us". The presentation explored how the human brain processes visual information using pattern detecting systems to fill in the gaps in our perceptual world.
The previous Psychology student to be given this award was Andy Cochrane, (now a Dr. of Psychology and a Maynooth University researcher) who won teh award in 2002 for her research into the problem of varroa in bees.
