Biography

Giovanni Maccani was born in Trento – Italy on July 30th, 1986. Giovanni is currently lecturer in Management Information Systems at the School of Business, Maynooth University. He is also Academic Member LERO, the Irish Software Research Centre, within the “Urban IoT and Smart Cities Business Models” work-package, and of the Business Informatics Group at Dublin City University. Giovanni has achieved a bachelor degree in engineering, and Master degree in Financial Management Engineering, both at Politecnico di Milano. He got a PhD in Information Systems at Maynooth University under the “Enterprise Partnership Scheme” of the Irish Research Council (IRC) in 2016. This program was funded by IRC and Intel Corp. (enterprise partner). The research domain is around the emerging concept of Smart Cities – Sustainable Connected Cities and Open Government Data. Giovanni was part of the focus group arising from the partnership established between Intel, Dublin City Council and MU, for the development of a maturity assessment for Dublin City and its Digital Master Plan. Giovanni has been lecturer in Maynooth University in 2015/2016 and delivered the module Social Media. So far he published fifteen peer reviewed international conference papers including ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, HICSS, PACIS, DESRIST among others.
