The School of Law and Criminology will offer new LLM and PG Diploma programmes in International law from September 2023
The LLM and PG Diploma in International Law (Blended Learning Offering) will provide students with critical insights into the operation of international law. They will provide a critique of international law frameworks and institutions and an analysis of how the international legal order works and how it seeks to protect vulnerable groups, including minorities and refugees.

ERC PatentsInHumans Project led by Prof Aisling McMahon commences!
The five-year interdisciplinary project is funded by a European Research Council Starting Grant and will involve a team of researchers who will focus on developing a comprehensive understanding of the bioethical issues posed by patents and how they are used over technologies related to the human body (such as, medicines, elements of medical devices, etc).

Dr Ní Ghráinne’s interview covered topics such as Ukrainian refugees in Ireland, Ireland’s obligations under international refugee law, and the recently-concluded agreement between France and the UK to curb migrants crossing the English Channel.

Christina Blacklaws to deliver lecture at launch of Technology Law & Policy Centre
Christina Blacklaws, former President of the Law Society of England & Wales and innovator in the legal field, is to deliver a lecture to launch Maynooth University’s new Technology Law & Policy Centre. Entitled Policy options and challenges in law and technology, the lecture draws on Christina’s vast top-level experience in policy-making in the UK and internationally.

The Irish Association of Law Teachers (IALT) Conference 2022 sponsored by Matheson, was held in Queens University Belfast (QUB) on the 11th and 12th November 2022. The theme of the conference was The Law’s Capacity for Shaping the World: Inclusion, Exclusion and Omission.

Maynooth hosts film screening, visiting professor for International Restorative Justice Week 2022
To mark International Restorative Justice Week, the screening was organised in partnership between Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology and Restorative Justice: Strategies for Change (RJS4C), a project involving partners from ten European countries seeking to support the development of restorative justice in criminal justice settings.
