The Maynooth University Law Society recently hosted a Panel discussion titled “Future of Diversity in the Legal Sector in Ireland” This event was chaired by Dr John Reynolds from the School of Law and Criminology and Professor Hana Cervinkova from the Department of Anthropology.

Speakers included:
Jane Barrett - chair of disability legal network and solicitor at William Fry
Niamh Donnelly - trainee solicitor at Eversheds 
Saadi Siddiky- Legal Counsel at LinkedIn; Committee Member OUTLaw Network
Daniel Pelu Jones - qualified solicitor in England and Ireland, CEO of Media Africa

This panel discussion examined diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, the ways in which firms and organizations already embrace diversity, and any general observations regarding diversity and inclusion in the workplace, particularly from a legal perspective, and how it could be improved.

The Diversity and Inclusion Officer of the Maynooth University Law Society organiser of the event Ebere Edeh expressed her optimism that achieving Equality and inclusion at an appreciable level in the legal Sector in Ireland is achievable.
