Delia Ferri, Professor of Law at the School of Law and Criminology and co-Director of the ALL Institute, has been appointed to the Scientific Committee of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA).

Delia Ferri, Professor of Law at the School of Law and Criminology and co-Director of the ALL Institute, has been appointed to the Scientific Committee of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA). The FRA, headquartered in Vienna, is one of the specialised agencies of the EU which was set up in 2007 to promote and protect the fundamental rights of all people living in the EU.

The Scientific Committee is the guarantor of the scientific quality of the FRA's work and is involved in the preparation of the majority of FRA's documents. This June, Professor Ferri joins ten other widely renowned experts with distinguished academic credentials from across Europe for a five-year term. Among those are Prof. Adam Bodnar, Prof. Paul De Herte, and Prof. Jannecke Gerards. Academics from Irish universities sitting in previous iterations of the Committee include Prof. Gerard Quinn (2013-2018), also UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities from 2020 until recently.  

Speaking on her appointment, Professor Ferri said: “I am delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to the work of the FRA and the advancement of fundamental rights in the European Union”.
