Digital technologies to support climate action and wildfire response

Thursday, October 26, 2023 - 15:00 to 17:00
Iontas Foyer

Our research teams based across the Irish Climate Analysis and Research Units (ICARUS) and National Centre for Geocomputation (NCG) and the Hamilton Institute will showcase a suite of sophisticated technologies including digital platforms, drones and sensors that are currently in use on two Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) projects Terrain-AI and DECAMAP.

Attendees will be brought through the technologies used on the Terrain-AI project and given an opportunity to view sensor and research outputs on our live data platforms that are designed to monitor climate variables and greenhouse gases across a range of terrains (e.g. grass, crop, peat, forest, urban).

Our team members from the DECAMAP project will also be on hand to demonstrate their digital platform which brings together data from a range of sources including optical, thermal and 360 sensors captured using drones, in addition to machine learning (ML) techniques and fire line models that support data-driven decision making in response to emergency events like wildfires.

All welcome.
