Science Week 2023 was a great success for the International Renewable and Energy Systems Integration Research Team (IRESI) from the School of Business, Maynooth University. Dr Amy Fahy and Prof Fabiano Pallonetto are very proud of the incredible team of 15 brilliant IRESI researchers from the SFI RENEW Challenge, RES4CITY, FLOW and NexSys projects, who volunteered to share their time and expertise as part of the energy strand of the event.
Through interactive workshops, families learned about electricity, and the role of technology in wind, hydro, solar power and much more. There were some fantastic engaged-research discussions with the stellar young energy researchers and their parents.
A multidisciplinary team event in action, with thanks to CarrieAnne Barry from the School of Engineering for coordinating the event, to Sadhbh Crean from the Science Foundation Ireland AMBER Centre who provided input on the use of powerful nanomaterials in renewable energy systems, the Maynooth Centre for Ocean Energy Research, and many others who made this event a huge success.
The group are looking forward to continuing their outreach work in this area to inspire the next generation in STEM, learning to pave the way for multi stakeholder collaboration in renewable energy research.
