Dr Edana Richardson published a blog post entitled: ‘Sustainability and Islamic Finance in the United Arab Emirates’ in the Oxford Business Law Blog (OBLB). This blogpost, which is available here, explores the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) recent move to promote the UAE as a country in which environmental and social issues are prioritised. The blogpost considers sustainability in the UAE and discusses whether Islamic finance and, in particular, whether responsible finance sukuk, could help the UAE to meet the significant need for funding that will result from its sustainability efforts.

Dr Richardson teaches Islamic finance on the Department of Law’s LLM (International Business) and LLM (Global Legal Studies) programmes.
