Dr Aisling McMahon has recently published a co-authored article entitled “Genome editing: the dynamics of continuity, convergence, and change in the engineering of life” in New Genetics and Society: Critical Studies of Contemporary Biosciences - a world-leading journal focusing on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary, leading-edge social science research on the new genetics and related biosciences.

COVID-19: Can the Oireachtas Legislate During the Pandemic? article by Dr Seth Tillman in Irish Law Times
Seán Ó Fearghaíl, the Ceann Comhairle,has informed his colleagues, that in light of “a very serious constitutional problem”, the Seanad will be unable to pass legislation after 29 March 2020. He is supported by advice offered from the Attorney General and the Secretary General of the Department of the Taoiseach.

Restorative justice and COVID-19: responding restoratively during/to the crisis
On Monday 6th April 2020, the Estonian Ministry of Justice called a meeting of restorative justice services and experts from across Europe to discuss how we might use restorative justice and restorative practices during the COVID-19 crisis. This meeting involved over 30 persons from 12 European jurisdictions and was facilitated by Dr. Ian Marder (Maynooth University Department of Law, Ireland).

Dr Sinéad Ring has been awarded a Charlemont Grant by the Royal Irish Academy
The grant, along with funding from University of Ottawa, will allow her to conduct a research visit to the archives of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation at the Universities of Manitoba and Ottawa.
