Professor Delia Ferri and Dr Avril Brandon host induction session for School of Law and Criminology doctoral researchers

On 11th October, Professor Delia Ferri and Dr Avril Brandon hosted an induction session for all doctoral researchers in the School of Law and Criminology.

Following an introduction from Dr Fergus Ryan, and an overview of the doctoral programme from Professor Ferri, attendees were introduced to the keynote speaker, Dr Kirsten Roberts Lyer. Dr Roberts Lyer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Policy at the Central European University, where she teaches courses on the Rule of Law and Human Rights. She is a recognised expert on National Human Rights Institutions and has been appointed as a member of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights' Scientific Committee (2023-2028) and elected as Vice-Chair for 2023-24. Dr Roberts Lyer shared her academic journey, and her path to her current roles. In particular, she spoke about the importance of protecting mental health and wellbeing throughout the PhD, and the role of networking in cultivating a career. Professor Ferri and Dr Brandon wish to thank Dr Fergus Ryan and Dr Roberts Lyer for their time and contribution to this event.
