Niamh Rooney visits Hanoi, Vietnam as part of the CODET project

Niamh Rooney, Department of International Development travelled to Hanoi, Vietnam in May 2019 to participate in and co-facilitate the final evaluation of  the Community Development through English Teaching (CODET) project, a joint initiative of ten European, Asian, and Latin American organisations.

The project took place over a two-year period and was funded by the European Union under Erasmus+ programme funding. The project aimed to enable 16 young people aged 18 to 30 to participate in European Voluntary Service in Cambodia, Vietnam, Honduras, Mexico, Estonia, Czech Republic, Ireland and Slovakia and thus develop personal and professional skills as well as to support the development of local communities in these countries through engaging in social community projects.
 
The final evaluation was attended by representatives of each of the partner organisations and hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS), Hanoi. Niamh was accompanied on her journey by Ruth Powell, Comhlamh and Mateja Jakšić, VSI.
