Congratulations to Dr. Tuvana Pastine, Maynooth University economist, who along with Dr. Ivan Pastine from UCD and Dr. Matt Coleman from California Polytechnic State University is awarded the prestigious 2019 Brendan Walsh Prize for Economic and Social Research for their joint paper titled “Incumbency Advantage in an Electoral Contest.” The prize is awarded for the best paper published in the Economic and Social Review in the preceding year and it is named in honour of the memory of Professor Brendan Walsh and his long and distinguished career in Irish economics.

There was a distinct Irish flair to the event where fabulous Irish prizes were up for grabs. 'Twas gas craic altogether! Maynooth Labour Economist appointed to the European Commission Structural Reform Support Service External Panel of Experts
We are pleased to announce that Professor Donal O'Neill, a labour Economist in the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting at Maynooth University, has been appointed to serve on the European Commission Structural Reform Support Service External Panel of Experts supporting the implementation of structural reforms in Member States. Professor O'Neill will serve the Commission in the areas of Labour market and social cohesion, the welfare system, education and training.
