Irish Accountancy Awards – Excellence in Education and Training Winners 2017 The Accounting Group were delighted with their success at the Irish Accountancy Awards 2017 being declared Winners of the Excellence in Education and Training category. The award which recognises excellence in the delivery and development of knowledge or skills in the Accountancy Profession was presented to Aodhdín Casey, on behalf of the Accounting Group by John McCarrick, Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants.

Accounting Graduates continue to excel in Chartered Accountants Ireland Final Admitting Exams.
Maynooth accounting graduates continue to surpass the national average in the January 2017 sitting of Chartered Accountants Ireland Final Admitting Exams, with a pass rated of 71% above the national average of 63% (September 2016 exams Maynooth graduate pass rate was 85%, above the national average of 80%). We congratulate all those concerned and wish them the very best as they embark on their careers as qualified Chartered Accountants, flying the flag for Maynooth University.

Is cutting unemployment benefits during a recession an effective way of reducing youth unemployment? New research carried out by Dr. Aedín Doris, Professor Donal O'Neill and Dr. Olive Sweetman of the Labour Economics Group at Maynooth University examine this issue by evaluating the labour market response of claimants aged 18-21 to a substantial cut in unemployment assistance payments introduced in Ireland in response to the Great Recession.
