Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 11:30

Ms. Blanca Suarez-Bilbao presented the paper ‘The influence of complexity, chance and change on the career crafting strategies of self-initiated expatriates (SIEs)’ on behalf of co-authors Maike Andresen (Bamberg University), Marian Crowley-Henry and Edward O’Connor (Maynooth University) at the Academy of Management (AOM) 2022 conference in Seattle, USA, on 8th August 2022.

The presentation (and paper), part of the Expatriate Careers track (session 1444), unpacks the dynamic nature of career crafting, exploring how self-initiated expatriates improve person-career fit over time and circumstance, managing the influences of complexity, chance, and change. Blanca recently completed a prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Scholarship period (2020-2021) in collaboration with the University of Bamberg (Germany), is a John and Pat Hume Scholar at Maynooth University, and is entering the final year of her PhD programme at Maynooth University School of Business where she is supervised by Dr Marian Crowley-Henry and Dr Edward O’Connor.
