Senior Lecturer in Management at the School of Business, Dr Tatiana Andreeva, has received an 2018 Outstanding Paper Award for her paper ‘A cross-cultural perspective on relational exchange’, published in the Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing in 2017.

The article was co-authored by Minna Jukka, Kirsimarja Blomqvist, Kaisu Puumalainen (all three from Lappeenranta University of Technology) and Tatiana. The paper examines what makes a relationship with business partners to be well- or poorly functioning in the eyes of partners from different cultures. Building on the interviews with Russian and Finnish managers, this study finds that some relational norms like flexibility, information exchange and long-term orientation were equally important for managers from different countries, while the importance of a business partner’s ability was seen differently across cultures.
As an Outstanding Award winner, Emeralds Publishing has made the paper freely available for the next 12 months: https://www.emeraldinsight.com/doi/pdfplus/10.1108/JBIM-03-2016-0048
