Choirs for Kolkata in aid of the Froebel/HOPE Teacher Education Partnership

Thursday, April 3, 2014 - 19:30
Iontas Theatre

We are delighted to invite you to a wonderful night of exciting musical entertainment in aid of the Froebel / HOPE Teacher Education Partnership. There will be performances on the night from Anam Girls Choir, Kill, Co Kildare and the Children's Church Choir, Kill, Co Kildare and they will also be joined by Maynooth Chamber Choir who have just returned from representing Ireland in the international choral festival Canta en Primevera in Malaga where they won gold in both of their competitions!

Established in 2008, the Froebel HOPE Partnership aims to strengthen teacher education in HOPE-supported education centres, along with broadening the development and intercultural education of newly qualified primary school teachers by providing them with opportunities to co-teach with Indian teachers over an extended five – week period. Froebel lecturers provide ongoing workshops in child-centred methodologies and to date 140 teachers have worked with the street children of Kolkata for 5 weeks in June / July. The HOPE Foundation is a REGISTERED Irish charity which works tirelessly to support the street children through their education and health projects in the slum areas of Kolkata.
