The Maynooth University Department of Media Studies, with the Project for Emerging Voices and Hidden Histories, presents:

AIDS and Irish Media: Narratives of Shame and Stigma

To mark World AIDS day, a panel of speakers will discuss a wide range of issues regarding AIDS and HIV in the Irish media, including popular culture and current affairs news programming. This will be followed by a keynote address from special guest, Senator David Norris.

Red Ribbons will also be on sale throughout the event to raise much needed funds for HIV Ireland.

Professor Gerry Kearns will then chair a panel with guest speakers Dr. Deirdre Quinn (Maynooth University), Páraic Kerrigan (MU), Elena Vaughan (NUIG) and Tonie Walsh (LGBT Rights Campaigner and Curator of the Irish Queer Archive).
