Dr Estelle Murphy’s recent critical edition of John Eccles’s incidental music has been nominated for the American Musicological Society Claude V. Palisca Award. The award honours each year a scholarly edition or translation in the field of musicology published during the previous year. Dr Murphy’s edition – John Eccles, Incidental Music Part 2, Plays H – P, The Works of John Eccles (Middleton, WI: A-R Editions, 2021) – presents music composed by John Eccles for a variety of plays performed in London in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
