Dr Conor Crummey has been appointed as a new Assistant Professor in Law at the School of Law and Criminology.
Conor specialises in UK constitutional law, administrative law, and general jurisprudence. His current research focuses on developing a theoretical account of the ‘principle of legality’ – a method of statutory interpretation in UK public law. This account challenges orthodox public law accounts of statutory interpretation, by deploying an interpretivist, or anti-positivist, account of general jurisprudence. His research also focuses on debates within anti-positivist general jurisprudence more generally. His work has been published in outlets such as Public Law, The Modern Law Review, and Legal Theory (forthcoming).
Prior to joining Maynooth, Conor was a lecturer at the University of Glasgow, and previously at Queen Mary, University of London. He holds PhD and LL.M from University College London and an LL.B from Trinity College Dublin.
Conor will be lecturing on the Administrative Law and Constitutional Law II courses, and will be introducing a module in Constitutional Theory.
