Professor Doherty appeared on RTE’s News at One and was reported on various other RTE outlets on October 16th 2017, to discuss the employment law rights and obligations that related to disruption caused by ex-Hurricane Ophelia which swept through Ireland forcing the closure of many businesses countrywide.
 
Professor Doherty lectures and researches on all aspects of employment law, including his piece 'New Morning? Irish Labour Law Post-Austerity' published in the Dublin University Law Journal in 2016.

Professor Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law where he lectures on Employment Law on the LLB and BCL programmes.
