Prof Doherty was a panelist at the recent Freelancers Forum.

The panel addressed some of the big picture issues facing freelancers in a rapidly changing world of work– driven by technology, changing consumer demands, and a fundamental change in the employment expectations of the workforce. Other panellists included Simon McVicker – CEO, IPSE (UK), Andrew Burke – Dean, Trinity Business School, Paolo Falco – Economist, OECD and Mary McSweeney – Local Enterprise Office, Dublin City Council.

Prof Doherty recently published a new piece ‘Trade Unions and the “Gig Economy” in Game Changers in Labour Law: Shaping the Future of Work. Prof Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law, as well as Employment Law to BCL/ LLB students.
