Thursday, February 14, 2019 - 09:00

In January, Dr Maria Helen Murphy was invited to speak at Trinity College Dublin to mark Data Protection Day 2019. This was a public event that explored some of the biggest issues in data protection and privacy. The panel discussion was chaired by Elaine Burke (@CriticalRedPen and managing editor of Silicon Republic) and the other panellists were Rossa McMahon (@rossamcmahon) and Professor Jane Grimson. The event was organised by TCD’s Information Compliance Office, Information Technology Services, and the Science Gallery Dublin. Also in January, Dr Murphy’s chapter “Pseudonymisation and the Smart City: Considering the General Data Protection Regulation” was published in Creating Smart Cities (Routledge 2019). This collection was edited by Claudio Coletta, Leighton Evans, Liam Heaphy, and Rob Kitchin.
